Why You Need Real Internet Marketing

Posted in Internet Marketing

You probably already have a website. It may even look good. So why isn’t it making you any money?

Two reasons: no one knows it’s there, and it’s probably not set up to sell.

For just a moment, think about the Yellow Pages. If you are looking for a restaurant, you open up to the R’s and you can find hundreds. Now let’s compare that to the Internet. There are thousands and hundreds of thousands of lawyers, general contractors, chiropractors, etc.

Research shows that when most people do a search they only look at the first page. If your website isn’t in those top spots, then the vast majority of people don’t know you exist.

Repeat after me: Your website can’t make you money if people can’t find it.

So how do you test whether or not people can find you? Break your business down to its basic concepts. What does your business do? Where are you located? Now type these generalities about your business into Google, for instance – “Lawn Irrigation in Maple Grove.”

If you cannot see your site on the first page, or if you cannot find it at all, then you don’t exist on the Internet. If people can only get to your site by typing in its exact name, then they would have needed another piece of advertising to get them there. That’s horrible.

Next, when people get to your site does it persuade them to become your client? Does your website make people know, like, and trust you? Does it establish you as a leading expert in your field? Does it offer a clear, attractive, and easy path towards becoming your client? For most websites the answer to all of the above questions is “no.”

This is tragic. Your website is a potentially huge money maker. If it’s not productive then it does you no good and may as well not exist.

But there is hope.

We help businesses get to the top of the search engines for keywords that people type in when they’re looking to buy. Within just a few short months (days if you want to do PPC) you can be on the top of the list and getting those easy leads. We help businesses get these clients every day and it makes a huge difference to their bottom line.

The next step is for you to contact us. We’ll go over all of your options and chart out the smartest path forward. Calling us and getting all the information you need to make an educated decision is a smart move. Positioning yourself as a leader in your market and community is easier and less expensive than most people think. And don’t worry about high pressure sales. We don’t do high pressure…we don’t need to.

Internet marketing is not about just making a website. It’s not about making a website that looks good. It is about making a website visible and profitable. This is what we can do for you. Whether you have a website already or not, we can help you get found and get clients from the internet.

PPC is a Good Idea

Posted in PPC

Pay Per Click marketing (PPC) is an important tool for local businesses when it’s done correctly.  When it’s done incorrectly it will eat through your marketing budget before you can say “where did my money go.” Furthermore, because the possibility to lose a lot of money exists (only if you don’t know what you’re doing) companies often get scared and timid with PPC.  This is a mistake.  PPC is a game for the bold, because it rewards competent boldness with a lot of high quality traffic and lower click costs than your competition.

J Rhoades Consulting PPC Campaigns typically start with Google’s Adwords program.  It’s the starting point for PPC because Google gets the vast majority of search traffic and the PPC system is more advanced.  Once we gather the appropriate data from the Adwords campaign we can port the campaign over to Yahoo and MSN…even Facebook if we want to.

How PPC Works:

You make some ads that you want Google to display.  Then you tell Google when to show those ads (typically based off of what words they type into the search engine).  Then you tell Google how much money you’re willing to pay them every time someone clicks on your ad.  Then when someone types in one of the phrases you bid on, Google decides what ads to show and what order to put them in.  If one of the ads gets clicked the advertiser pays Google up to (but never more than) what they agreed to.

Some of The Many Benefits Of PPC

  • Complete Budget Control:  You can increase your budget when you need to get more business and you can decrease your budget to slow down your new client aquisition.  If you have a seasonal business.  You can pause your campaigns for the months that nobody is searching for your type of business.  Try doing that with a yellow page directory.
  • Fine Tune Your Marketing Message: One of the most beneficial aspects of PPC is the ability to split-test your ads.  You can make any number of different ads and run them against each other to see which ad gets more clicks over time.  This way, instead of guessing what marketing messages will be best received by your potential clients, you can run some tests and find out for certain what your clients will respond to.  Then you can take that info and apply it across all of your other marketing channels as well.  Good PPC makes all of your other marketing efforts more effective too.
  • Fast Traffic – We can make a campaign now and literally be getting traffic in 15 minutes.
  • Geographical Targeting – PPC allows you to very accurately reach your target audience.  We can literally draw a picture on a map of where you want your ads to show.

The (Relatively Few) Drawbacks of PPC:

  • It costs money
  • Unless you’re good at it, you’re paying too much to Google.

PPC is a good idea and your business should probably be using it.  Contact J Rhoades Consulting today to discuss how Pay Per Click Marketing can help your business.

What I Do

Posted in Internet Marketing

This is how I describe to my friends and family what I do.

I make websites make money.

I used to go into more detail, but their eyes just glaze over after a bit and then it’s just like talking to myself. It’s a pleasant way to pass the time…but doesn’t accomplish much.

So now, I just keep my explanation to the absolute basics.  When they want more info this is what I say:

“I make websites into systems that convert visitors into paying clients.”
